A Tuesday Ten: 2014 Series Titles

I did promise this, right? So here we go!  Ten titles that are in ongoing series that I’m waiting to discover!

1.

Jinx’s Magic by Sage Blackwood (Katherine Tegan Books, January 2014)

The second book in the Jinx series–one of the more interesting magic and nature books out last year.  I’m looking forward to seeing where Jinx’s adventures take him in this next story.

2

The Whispering Skull  by Jonathan Stroud (Doubleday Children’s Books, Expected Publication 2014)

Sorry, no cover yet for this second installment of Lockwood & Co. . The Screaming Staircase got a great deal of positive attention last year and if Stroud keeps going with similar still, I’m definitely looking forward to this upcoming story!

3.

Blue Sea Burning by Geoff Rodkey (Putnam Juvenile, Expected Publication: April 2014)

The concluding volume in The Chronicles of Egg trilogy.  Readers will finally learn  the fate of Egg, Gus and Kira as they race against time to discover the Fire King’s Treasure.  And unusual alternate history fantasy of pirates and magic!

4.

The Blood of Olympus by Rick Riordan (Disney-Hyperion, Expected Publication: October 2014)

The next installment in The Heroes of Olympus series.  Not certain if it’s the final one for this group (though the original series was a quintet).  Gaea’s still out to rise again, and this time she’s aiming to sacrifice two demigods to do it.

5.

Rose and the Lost Princess by Holly Webb (Sourcebooks Jabborwocky, Expected Publication: April 2014)

The Rose series has already published all four titles in Britain, but the next title is due to hit the states this April.  Fingers crossed that this read is just as enjoyable as the last.  (The cover is from the Brit edition, I haven’t seen North American cover as of yet)

6.

The Forbidden Flats by Peggy Eddleman (Random House Books, Expected Publication: September 2014)

The second book in the Sky Jumpers series.  While there nothing about what the book will be about, nor a cover, I’m very much looking forward to  reading this one!

7.

The Eye of Zoltar by Jasper Fforde (HMH, Expected Publication: 2014)

Third book in Fforde’s teen/tween series The Last Dragonslayer.  Like most of his series, this one is chock full of quirky alternate history.  Jennifer has another whole set of troubles to navigate in this book if she wants to hold on to  everything she loves!

8.

Game Wizards Play by Diane Duane (Expected Pub Date: 2014–no month yet)

Slated to be book ten in the  Young Wizards series, I’ve been following Diane Duane’s Kit and Nita for years, and I don’t expect to stop while there are books to be had.  While the publication information on this one is rather sketchy, I can still be hopeful we’ll see it this year!

9.

A Very Peculiar Plague (British title) by Catherine Jinks (British pub date: Allen and Unwin, 2013) (Unknown pub date for US)

Okay, I’m cheating a little here.  In the US.  the first title is How To Catch a Bogle and there’s no specific indication that the second installment is forthcoming in the States.  But I’m certainly hopeful there will be–the first book was such fun!  So this is the title and the cover for the Brit edition, but we’ll have to wait and see what’s in store for the State side edition.

10.

The Hero’s Guide to Being an Outlaw by Christopher Healy (Walden Pond Press, Expected Publication, April 2014)

The third and final installment in Healy’s The League of Princes series that takes fractured fairy tale antics to an entirely new level.  I have a soft spot for these and can’t wait for this wrap up!

What series books are you looking forward to?  Comments welcome!

  1. Oh how exciting so many of these are! I did not know that Bogle sequel was out in the world, for instance! Thanks.
